Summary C4T #3

This is a picture of part of Mr. Russ Goerend's "clipwall".  I have been following his blog for the past couple of weeks and have really gained some useful information and tips from his posts.  The first post I read involved the explanation of his classsroom setup- thus the above picture.  His classroom is one that is student centered, rather than teacher centered.  He doesn't even have a teacher's desk!  He uses a writer's bulletin board to post writing ideas, his clipwall which was a favorite of mine, and a classroom library.  Mr. Goerend uses a swivel chair for hs "post" where he can mobile and not the center of attention at all times.  I think his classroom is a great example of how we as teachers can make a huge impact on the child's learning environment and how they interact with us and classmates.

In another post, Mr. Goerend explains how he uses Evernote in his classroom to help him organize and decrease his paperwork.  I thought it was very helpful to see how this note-taking tool can be applied in a secondary classroom.  With the increasing demand in documentation, this tool can be very useful to teachers.  He did a great job illustrating how he organized notebook for each of his students.  He can even record reading sessions and conferences with them.  This is a tool I will certainly try when I return to the classroom, thanks to Mr. Goerend's promotion!
